In this video I experimented with swapping out the pole pieces in a guitar pickup to observe the changes on the frequency response. Due to the limitations of my environment and materials, this is not a strictly scientific experiment though it should be reproducable. I measured the frequency response of the stock pole pieces, I removed the pole pieces (leaving the lug type ones in-tact, just removing the screw ones) and measured the frequency response again, then I measured the frequency response of a set of McMaster stainless steel hex screws, McMaster black oxide hex screws, and Addiction-FX black oxide hex screws. Watch the video for the results! After I measure the frequency responses, I have a graph displayed overlaying the results, then some short clips of me playing the guitar in each configuration.
